This application is a very good tool to illustrate the benefit of columnar storage compared to classic row storage for a specific use case.

At the end of the Jupyter Notebook, a graph is generated, showing how the performance of SQL queries is different, arguably to the advantage of columnar storage.

• docjker build reqires a fix. PR is pending
• be careful and start IRIS first, then jupyter to avoid timing issues
• the final demo runs as expect
• nice graphic in jupiter
• you may enjoy it if you are fluent on jupyter, otherwise, it's your problem
• Being more interested in IRIS I took a while to back-translate the scripts
